The name Civitavecchia is meaningful! It means “the old town” and in fact it has a very long and important history! 50 miles far from the uncomparable Capital of Italy, Civitavecchia was the ancient port of the Imperial Rome and the Harbour of the Popes. Nowadays Civitavecchia is the core center in the development of cruise tourism and one of the most important ports in the Mediterranean Sea.
Owing to its vicinity to the Capital, it’s often called “the port of Rome” but its 2000 years old history makes the town an amazing place to visit, a lovely destination if you have already been to Rome and You’re looking for relaxing tours and some hidden treasures to discover.
